I thought that expensive Italian shear sharpener was a lifetime investment, but it mangled my favorite pair in under a year.

The $400 machine left a burr that ruined the edge, and now I'm back to sending them out, so what's a reliable sharpening service you guys actually trust?

Man, that's such a bummer. Expensive gear failing like that is the worst. My local cobbler does a great job, charges about twenty bucks.

Check if your local fabric store has a sharpener they use, those guys keep industrial machines running for tailors.

Actually, a cobbler is a solid call, but they usually work on thicker leather shears. For fabric shears, you really want someone who sharpens sewing tools specifically.
