Had a customer 5 years ago tell me my fades were "too soft" - made me rethink my whole approach
I was working out of a shop in Phoenix back then. This older guy sat down and after I finished he just said "you gotta leave more weight at the bottom, son. A fade ain't supposed to blend all the way up." I was kinda pissed at first but I tried it on the next few cuts and man, people started asking who my new barber was. It was still me, just with a different technique. Changed how I do low fades forever. Any of yall ever have a customer drop a tip that actually changed your style?

Man that's exactly what happened with me and a old barber who told me my edges were too sharp.

You've been through that too, right? I had the same thing happen with my guy. He kept saying my hairline was "too geometric" and I was like bro that's just how my hair grows. What I did was bring a picture of what I actually wanted and told him to just follow that. Sometimes barbers get stuck in their old ways and need a visual to get on the same page. Have you tried that or did you just switch barbers?
