Had a client in Dallas ask for a skin fade with a straight razor finish

I was working at the shop on Elm Street last Tuesday and he was very clear about wanting that sharp line. I've always used my clippers for the final pass, but he insisted. So I grabbed my Dovo shavette and went for it. The line came out perfect, but it took me twice as long because I was moving so slow. Now I'm thinking I should practice this more, even though it feels risky. How many of you guys actually finish fades with a straight razor?

Saw a guy try that once, nicked his ear.

Grabbed a styptic pencil after I did the same thing last month. That little stick of alum stops the bleeding almost right away. Keep one in the bathroom cabinet now, costs like two bucks at the drugstore. Way better than holding a bit of toilet paper on your ear for half an hour, lol.

Ever see how much a nick like that can bleed? Makes you wonder if the extra time is even worth it.
