Guy at the convention told me my fades were 'too safe'

He was a veteran barber from Chicago who showed me how to flick my wrist harder on the lever, and after 3 tries I finally got that crispy blend I've been chasing for a year - has anyone else had a random stranger fix a blind spot in your technique?

What did he specifically say about your fades that made you realize you were holding back? I always thought I was being precise until someone pointed out I was basically drawing the same line over and over without blending at all. Did he just call you out on being too careful or did he show you the exact flick difference?

A barber told me my lines were "too safe" too, turns out I was just scared of cutting my own ear off.
