Finally nailed a skin fade after 6 weeks of trying

I started barber school back in March and kept messing up the blend on the sides every single time. Last Tuesday I did a full skin fade on a buddy of mine in St. Louis and it actually looked clean and even. Anyone else take way longer than they expected to get this down?

My buddy Marcus from barber school tried for like 3 months straight to get his fades right. He'd practice on me and his little brother every weekend and the back of the head always came out looking like a staircase or just patchy as hell. One day his dad let him try a fade on him for a family cookout and Marcus completely butchered it, had to shave his dad's whole head bald lmao. He was about to quit school over it but then one random Tuesday something just clicked and now he's one of the best fade guys in our class. It's wild how it just hits you one day after you've been struggling forever.

so you're telling me it only took 6 weeks and you think that's a long time? i've seen guys in my shop spend months messing up fades and still charging people for them.
