Warning: that fancy sourdough starter kit I bought was a total ripoff
Dropped $60 on a deluxe starter kit from an online bakery and all it came with was a tiny jar, some weak flour, and instructions i found for free on YouTube. Anyone else get burned by those overpriced starter bundles?

Wait, they charged you $60 for a starter kit and it came with instructions you could find for free? That's wild, like what were they even thinking with that price tag? Honestly, I've seen people spend way less on just flour and a jar and get better results than what these fancy kits promise. Tbh, the whole thing sounds like they took advantage of people who don't know any better, which is just shady. Ngl, I'd be so mad if I dropped that much cash on something so basic.

Nah i gotta disagree a bit here. A lot of those kits are overpriced for sure, but some people genuinely don't know where to start with sourdough and the convenience factor is real. Not everyone wants to hunt down a good jar and figure out which flour works best on their own. Yeah $60 is steep but if it gets someone baking who otherwise would've given up after watching a confusing youtube video, then it's not totally worthless. Different strokes for different folks i guess.
