My lemon drizzle cake turned into a puddle at a bake sale in Portland

I forgot the baking powder and it came out flat as a pancake, so I called it a 'lemon drizzle pudding' and sold it with spoons. Has anyone else saved a fail by just changing the name?

Genius move. I bet the "pudding" sold faster than a proper cake would have anyway.

Totally agree, it's all about naming. Calling it pudding makes it sound like a fun treat instead of just another cake. That little mental switch is what gets people to grab their wallet.

So what's next, rebranding broccoli as "forest fries" to get kids to eat it? I can already see the marketing team high-fiving over selling a basic sheet cake at a premium just by calling it birthday pudding.
