My grandma called my sourdough 'fine' and it wrecked me
She's 82 and has been baking since she was a kid, so when she tried my loaf and just said 'it's fine, honey' I knew it was a polite way of saying it was mid. Made me realize I've been skipping the cold ferment step because I'm impatient, and now I'm 0 for 3 trying to fix it. Has anyone else had a family member give a brutally honest review that actually helped?

You're being too nice to yourself with that take. @wyatt_fox68, if a grandma says 'it's fine' about bread, that's not a compliment, that's her being polite about something she'd never serve at Thanksgiving. Cold ferment is non-negotiable, skipping it is why you're 0 for 3.

it's fine, honey" sounds like grandma thinks it's actually pretty good, you're just being hard on yourself.
