Grandma's 3 day sourdough starter died in my fridge and I'm spiraling
My grandmother gave me her 45 year old starter last month and I forgot to feed it before a 4 day work trip to Phoenix. Came home to a layer of gray liquid and that sharp acetone smell that means it's toast. Has anyone else killed a family heirloom starter and successfully revived it from dried scraps, or am I just doomed to restart from scratch?
