Forgot to weigh my flour and my cinnamon rolls turned into hockey pucks
I was at my parents' house last Christmas morning trying to whip up a batch of cinnamon rolls from memory (big mistake). Got all the way to the rising step and realized the dough felt like I was kneading a brick. Turns out I just eyeballed the flour instead of using a scale like I always do at home. After a solid 10 minutes of cursing under my breath I just added extra butter and milk to soften it up, but they came out dense as hell anyway. Has anyone else had a holiday bake go sideways because you skipped one tiny step?

Hitting that brick dough moment is brutal, but Im curious why you skipped the scale in the first place. Were you trying to rush through it, or did you just trust your eyeballs because youve made them so many times? Ive totally done that with cookies before and regretted it every single time. The extra butter and milk trick usually helps a bit but it never fully fixes the texture, does it? Like, you can tell its almost right but theres still that weird dense chew. Honestly, next time Id rather just pack my scale in my carry-on than deal with that sadness again.

That "trust your eyeballs" habit always backfires eventually, @felix478, just like skipping socks on a long walk.
