The wedding cake that went sideways at 40 degrees

Last Saturday I had a three tier cake for a wedding in Austin and the AC in the venue died an hour before the cookies. The buttercream started sliding off the bottom tier like a slow landslide. I grabbed a dry cloth and started patting the moisture off the sides while my buddy held a fan from the kitchen. We got it stable enough for photos but the top tier leaned about 10 degrees the whole night. Has anyone else dealt with a hot venue meltdown mid event? What do you keep in your emergency kit for heat? I'm thinking of adding a mini portable fridge to my car.

I keep a $20 spray bottle full of ice water and a foldable windshield sun shade in my kit now, the shade works way better than a towel for blocking heat off one side. Also those reusable ice packs wrapped in a dry rag can buy you ten minutes if you slide them under the bottom board. The mini fridge is nice but honestly a cooler with frozen water bottles does the same thing for less.
