PSA: My loaf went flat because I forgot to check my starter
I was baking sourdough in my tiny kitchen in Denver last night. Didn't realize my starter was sluggish, and the dough barely rose. Has anyone else had a batch fail because they skipped a feeding the day before?

Well, I'll be. That reminds me of the time I tried making bread in the RV when I was parked up in a rainstorm. Forgot the humidity was messing with my starter and ended up with a brick instead of a loaf.

That "brick instead of a loaf" line hit home, @troy_butler7. I used to think humidity only mattered for things like electronics or metal, you know, the obvious stuff. But after a few failed baking attempts myself, I totally get how it can mess with dough. It's funny how the little things we don't think about can completely change the outcome. Your story actually made me look up humidity and baking, and I had no idea it was that big of a deal. Thanks for sharing, it definitely changed my mind on all of that.
