My stand mixer nearly walked off the counter yesterday
I was making a double batch of bagel dough and my KitchenAid actually hopped about 4 inches towards the edge before I caught it. Had no idea that 6 cups of bread flour could make the thing dance like that - my wife still won't stop laughing. Anyone else's mixer try to escape mid-knead?

the_piper, that cat story killed me. My dog actually hid under the bed the whole time my mixer was doing its thing. I swear my mixer has a mind of its own now, like it remembers that time I pushed it too hard with a triple batch of pizza dough. I called my buddy who fixes small appliances and he just laughed and said "you need to hold that thing down like it owes you money." Guess I'm lucky my countertop is textured enough to give it some grip, otherwise I'd be chasing a runaway KitchenAid through the living room. At least the bagels turned out good, but my arm is still sore from wrestling the thing back in place.

Nearly had the same thing happen with my old mixer but with cookie dough. I was making those thick chocolate chip ones that need like 4 sticks of butter and it started doing this weird wobble dance towards the outlet. Scared my cat so bad she launched off the counter and knocked over a whole jar of sprinkles. Now every time I make dough she sits in the doorway giving me the stink eye like I'm gonna summon another monster machine lol

Did you read that article about the guy whose blender took off like a helicopter? Makes me wonder if we're all one batch of dough away from a kitchen appliance uprising.
