I finally stopped using Papyrus for my yard sale flyers after the librarian in Toledo set me straight
For about 4 years I put Papyrus on every flyer I taped up around my neighborhood in Toledo, and I thought it looked classy. Last month the branch librarian glanced at my flyer for a book sale and said something like "honey, that font makes it look like a yoga studio, not a sale." I laughed it off, then taped up 30 copies and got 6 people to show. Next round I switched to plain bold Arial and got 41 people through the door in a single Saturday, which is a huge jump for a tiny church sale. Guess the fancy letters were scaring off the folks who actually buy used paperbacks. Now I want to know, what plain font do you all fall back on when you just need people to read the sign?
