Why does nobody talk about the light switches at the Des Moines airport Marriott
Stayed at the Marriott connected to the Des Moines airport back in March for a work thing and the room had these flat chrome panels where the lights should be. No toggle, no switch, just a smooth metal square with a tiny blue dot in the corner. I stood there for 90 seconds poking at it like an idiot before my coworker showed me you have to press the dot itself, not the panel. There were four identical panels by the door and two more by the bed and I could not tell you which one did the bathroom. Half of me says it is clever and clean looking, the other half says a guest should never need a tutorial to turn on a lamp. So which is it, is a light switch that does not look like a light switch bold design or just bad design? And does anyone actually like the flat panel thing or is it only hotel chains trying to look fancy?
