Warning: threw $80 down the drain on a 'smart' water bottle

I bought a HidrateSpark bottle that tracks your water intake and glows to remind you to drink. Turns out you need to charge the thing every 3 days, and the app loses connection constantly. After a month I just went back to a regular $10 Nalgene I got at REI in Denver. Has anyone else been burned by gadgets that solve problems nobody had?

$80 for a water bottle that needs more charging than my phone. My Nalgene from 2017 still holds water just fine and has never once asked me to update its firmware. The glowing reminder sounds like a feature designed by someone who forgot people have eyes and can just look at a glass on their desk. At least the Nalgene doubles as a blunt object when I'm annoyed about a gadget that solved a problem I never had.
