Vent: Paid $120 for a "smart" coffee maker that can't even make a decent cup

I bought this fancy wifi coffee maker last month thinking it would change my mornings. The app takes 45 seconds to connect every single time and half the time it just brews cold water. The touchscreen is so dim I have to use my phone flashlight to see the buttons at 7am. Anyone else get burned by kitchen gadgets that try too hard to be smart?

...it's like everything nowadays has to have a screen and connect to an app even when it makes the thing worse. My toaster has more tech than my first computer and honestly my toast isn't any better for it.

Wait, @mark_fisher48 you have a connected toaster? What brand even makes that? I honestly can't believe someone thought adding wifi to a toaster was a good idea. My coffee maker situation is exactly like yours but worse - the app has a 1 star rating on the app store but I already threw away the box. I spent $120 and now I'm back to using my old $20 Mr. Coffee because at least it makes hot water. The touchscreen on mine is so dim I literally held a flashlight in my teeth the other morning just to see if it was set to brew. These companies need to stop adding tech and just focus on making coffee taste good.
