Update: my friend's 'helpful' receipt layout is a hazard

Had coffee with my buddy Dave in Pittsburgh yesterday, and he showed me a receipt from a gas station where the total was in tiny gray text at the bottom, but the loyalty points were huge and bold at the top. I laughed, then realized I nearly paid $47 twice last month because a parking app did the same thing, big 'you earned 500 points' then the actual charge hidden below. He said his 70 year old mom almost overpaid her electric bill by $120 because the due date was smaller than the fine print on the back. Has anyone else gotten tripped up by this fake hierarchy trick, or found a store that finally got it right?
