The bank teller in Omaha said my deposit slip layout made her double check the amount twice
I was standing at the counter at a bank in Omaha last Tuesday, and the teller slid my deposit slip back and just stared at it for a second. She finally said the amount box and the date box were so close together that she had to check if I wrote 150 or 1.50, and she'd seen it trip up three other people that morning. I looked down and yeah, the whole form is a mess: the signature line runs right into the total row, and the tiny 6pt labels are basically unreadable without leaning in. She pulled out an older version of the same slip just to show me, and the boxes were way bigger and spaced out. Why do banks keep shrinking the fields on paper forms when people still fill them out by hand at the counter? Has anyone found a deposit slip design that doesn't confuse the person taking it?
