Shoutout to the gas station bathroom with the faucet you have to hold down
I always thought those sinks were just cheap and annoying, but I stopped at a place in Springfield last week that changed my mind. The faucet only ran for 10 seconds per press, and I saw three different people turn it off properly instead of letting it run. The owner told me his water bill dropped by 30% after he installed them. I guess the bad design is actually a clever, if frustrating, way to save water. Has anyone else seen a design that seems dumb but works?

Worry about the soap issue @aaron_kim46, but those faucets probably get cleaned more often. People aren't holding a grimy handle with wet hands after washing... so maybe it balances out for public health too.

So the water bill dropped 30%, that's huge. But what about the soap? Those timed faucets make you rush, so do people just skip washing their hands properly to beat the clock? Seems like it could trade water savings for being less clean.

Actually read an article about those timed faucets in public restrooms. They said the average person wastes a ton of water just letting it run while they dry their hands. It's annoying but I guess it forces you to be quick.
