Paid $15 for a door handle that looked sleek but broke in 3 weeks
Ngl, I was all about that modern minimalist design at the hardware store in Denver. But the cheap plastic mechanism inside snapped when I shut the door a little too hard. Anyone else fallen for a good-looking but flimsy piece of hardware?

Honestly, are we surprised cheap plastic fails again?

The whole "cheap plastic fails again" take feels like low hanging fruit honestly. But here's something nobody's talking about. That plastic was probably designed to fail from the start. Companies know exactly how long their stuff will last and they charge you more for the ones with a bit less plastic. It's like they engineer the breaking point on purpose so you have to buy another one next year. I've noticed with my own stuff that the really expensive "quality" plastic items break just as fast sometimes. It makes you wonder if the price tag is just for the name not the actual materials.
