Paid $120 for a 'waterproof' jacket that leaked on the first rainy hike in Seattle

Picked up this jacket from a trendy outdoor brand in Portland last month, figured the high price meant quality. Got caught in a drizzle on the Rattlesnake Ledge trail and was soaked through within 20 minutes, totally ruined my afternoon. What's the worst money you've dropped on something that claimed to solve a basic problem but totally failed?

Man that sucks! I dropped $150 on some "water resistant" hiking boots that turned my socks into sponges after one puddle.

water resistant" is a lie, I used to think it meant something but now I know better.
