My neighbor's kid pointed at my new apartment's bathroom door and asked 'why is the lock on the outside?'

I had to explain that the previous owner must have installed it backwards, which means you can lock someone in the bathroom from the hallway, a design flaw I'd been blindly living with for 6 months.

Imagine the weird power trips you could have with that setup. Host a dinner party and quietly lock the chatty guest in the bathroom for a time out. It's the kind of flaw you only find when a kid points it out, then you realize you've been one wrong move away from a home made panic room this whole time.

lol reminds me of my old place where the bathroom door didn't lock at all. Had to get creative with a chair under the knob when guests were over.
