Lost $80 on a 'smart' water bottle that needs an app to open

I bought this fancy bottle last month because the cap has a digital lock and tracks your intake. Turns out the battery died after 3 days and the cap won't unlock without the app connected. Had to pry it open with a knife and now it leaks everywhere. The manual says to charge it via a tiny port hidden under the silicone sleeve, which I never found until after I broke the latch. Has anyone else dealt with a product that's way too complicated for something as basic as drinking water?
