I finally fell for a $40 lightning cable that was 'guaranteed unbreakable'
I bought this braided cable from a booth at the mall in Nashville back in March. First week it worked fine, then by week three the rubber near the connector started peeling off. By week four it was sparking when I moved it wrong. I tried to get a refund from the guy but his booth was gone. Has anyone else wasted money on those mall kiosk cables that claim to be military grade?

That "military grade" line gets me every time too, @elliotburns. I bought one of those from a guy in a van at a truck stop in Ohio, he swore it was the same stuff they use in Army tanks, but it died after a month. Now I just stick with the cheap ones from the grocery store, they last just as long for a quarter of the price.

Bought a "military grade" cable from a kiosk in Atlanta last summer, forty bucks down the drain. By month two the braiding was frayed and the metal tip bent like a paperclip. Never trust a guy who sets up his shop in a folding chair.
