I defended tiny gray text on forms until a guy at the DMV in Reno couldn't read one
I used to argue that light gray 12px labels were clean and modern, and that people who complained just needed glasses. Then I sat at the DMV on Wells Ave last month and watched an older guy hold the paper form at arm's length, squint, and hand it to his wife to fill in. He wasn't confused about the questions. He just couldn't see the little gray prompts next to each box. Now I use 16px dark text on every form I build, and I feel kind of dumb about the pushback I gave before. What contrast ratio do you all aim for on form labels?
