Skeptical about dark pattern testing, now I run it on every wireframe
I thought dark pattern audits were just buzzword stuff until a checkout flow I designed last March dropped conversions by 22% because I hid the shipping costs too well. My own test group called it out in five minutes, what made you finally trust usability testing methods you initially dismissed?

Watched my wife try to book a hotel last summer and she gave up halfway through because the site kept sneaking a resort fee in at the last step. She shut the laptop and called the place directly instead. That stuck with me more than any study or article ever did, seeing someone I know just walk away. Now I make my testers say out loud what they think the final price is before they hit pay.
