My font pairing app made me blind to bad kerning for 2 years
I used to trust the auto-pairing suggestions in Figma for everything, then last month I saw a sign in Chicago with the same exact combo and realized it looked terrible up close. Turns out those tools pick fonts that match on paper but ignore spacing quirks in real sizes. Now I print out test phrases at 12pt and 48pt before I commit to anything. Has anyone else caught a typography tool leading them astray like that?
