Threw $300 at a soundproofing foam kit from Amazon

I bought this 50-pack of acoustic foam panels for my backyard studio back in March, thinking it'd kill the echo from my concrete walls... turns out those cheap panels barely do anything for low end. Now my mixes sound like garbage and I'm out cash I could've saved for real rockwool treatment. Anyone else learn this the hard way?

Honestly those panels work fine if you treat your room corners properly.

Treat my room corners properly? I can barely treat my own laundry pile properly, let alone acoustic corners. My room's got more echo than a canyon and I'm just praying the neighbors don't start a podcast.

Fiona, did you actually test the foam panels with a measurement mic or just slap them up and hope for the best? Because the density on those Amazon packs is usually way too low to do much below maybe 1kHz, and I bet your corners are still ringing like a bell. I'm curious what kind of bass trap you're using, or if you just stuck a few squares in the corners and called it a day.
