The day my backyard studio turned into a bird sanctuary

Last spring I was recording a podcast in my backyard studio near Portland, and a whole flock of starlings decided to nest under the eaves. One landed right on my window sill and started chirping so loud it drowned out my guest's voice. Now I have to check for nests every March before I record, anyone else deal with surprise wildlife in their studio?

Check your gutters too, starlings love nesting in the downspouts.

Starlings love nesting in the downspouts" - man, that one got me. Had them pack a downspout so tight it split the whole pipe open down the side. Water just poured out of the seam during a storm. Took me half a day to clean out the nest and patch the thing.
