Swapped my foam panels for rockwool last weekend and now my vocals don't sound like they're in a cardboard box.
I built my first studio 2 years ago with cheap foam from Amazon but after recording a podcast episode that had this hollow ring I finally spent $150 on proper rockwool panels and the difference is night and day, has anyone else made that switch and noticed how much cleaner the low end gets?

Rockwool definitely tightens things up but I’ve had mixed results... sometimes it kills the room so much it feels dead and takes all the life out of the performance.

That "kills the room" thing is real but I bet a lot of people are using way too much Rockwool for their space. Instead of covering whole walls, try putting it just in corner traps and first reflection points, then leave other surfaces bare to keep some natural sound. A little midrange reflection actually helps live recordings breathe without making the room ring out of control.
