Showerthought: I built my first shed studio with a 2x4 frame and plywood.

That was five years ago in Portland, and the winter drafts were awful. Last summer I redid the walls with proper 2x6 framing and filled the cavities with rockwool. The difference in noise and heat is huge, and my electric bill dropped about $30 a month. Anyone have tips for sealing around a pre-hung door in an older build?

Totally get that upgrade path, my own backyard office started the same way. Morgan.cameron is right about foam tape on the stop, that made a big difference for me too. A good door sweep was the final piece that really locked out the drafts.

Notice how many projects start with "good enough for now" and then become a real fix years later. My own garage workspace had the same path, from drafty afterthought to a properly sealed room. For your door, I had luck with adhesive-backed foam tape on the stop molding and a fresh silicone bead under the exterior trim.

But isn't silicone a bad idea for door trim since it can't be painted?
