Shoutout to my old boss who convinced me to skip the vapor barrier under my slab, a decision that cost me over $2k in moisture damage repairs last spring.

Honestly, I wish I'd just spent the $150 on the proper plastic sheeting and a weekend of my time instead of listening to his 'it never gets that cold here' advice, because now I'm dealing with a musty smell and warped flooring - has anyone else had to tear up a studio floor to fix this?

Man, what did your contractor say when you showed him the damage?

Oh man, @christopherkim, he tried to blame it on the weather at first! Said the rain must have gotten in behind the siding. But the damage was clearly from his crew not sealing the corner right. I had to point out the clean cut where the flashing was missing. He got real quiet after that. Honestly, it took two more visits before he finally sent his guys back to fix it right.

Ugh, that's so typical. @amy_lopez80, contractors always try the easy excuse first. Good on you for sticking to your guns and making them own the mistake.
