Serious question, did I waste 6 months building my shed studio floor on pavers instead of a concrete pad?
When I built my 10x12 backyard studio in Phoenix last year I went with gravel and pavers for the floor base because everyone online said it drains better and saves money. I spent $340 on pavers and a whole weekend leveling them, but by month 3 the whole thing was shifting and my mic stand kept wobbling during takes. My neighbor poured a simple 4 inch concrete pad for his and it cost him $600 but he was recording the same week with zero movement. I finally ripped my floor out in June and poured concrete, and the difference in noise isolation and stability is not even close. Anyone else go through this or did I just pick the wrong setup from the start?

Oh man, my buddy went through almost the same thing with his drum room! He laid down those rubber gym tiles over a crushed gravel base thinking it would be fine, and for the first couple months it was great. Then the Phoenix heat got to it and the whole thing started sinking in one corner, so his kick drum pedal kept sliding away mid song. He finally gave up and did a concrete slab too, and he told me he wished he had just done it from day one instead of wasting all that time and money. The stability thing is huge, you can't fake a solid floor when you're tracking anything with low end. Sounds like you learned the hard way but at least you got it right in the end.
