Portland summer heat vs. my insulated studio, who's right?

I used to just run a box fan in the window during July and call it good. After three sessions over 90 degrees last month I bought a 5,000 BTU AC unit from Craigslist, and it's a whole different game. But now I'm wondering if the humidity I'm adding with a swamp cooler actually hurts my guitar tone. Anyone else switch cooling methods mid-season and notice it changed their recordings?

My 8000 BTU unit dropped my room to 72 and my guitar tone actually got cleaner, less mud.
