My neighbor told me my snare sounded like a cardboard box...

He was right, so I hung a heavy moving blanket behind my kit in the studio and it completely changed the low end... has anyone else used unconventional stuff for acoustic treatment?

dude yes, moving blankets are a total game changer. i have this old shag carpet from the 70s that i found in someone's basement, and i stapled it to the wall behind my monitors. it's fuzzy and weird but it killed this nasty flutter echo i was dealing with. also used a bunch of those foam mattress toppers from amazon, cut them into triangles and stuck them in corners. not pretty but it works, and honestly who cares what it looks like if it sounds good right?

Careful with that shag carpet though, it's probably eating your high end.
