My 12x16 shed studio floor sank 3 inches after the first big rain in Tulsa
Put my backyard studio on 4x4 skids over bare dirt back in March, and after two days of storms the whole floor sloped toward the door. Turns out I never compacted the gravel base, so the skids just worked their way into the mud. I jacked it up with a rented floor jack last Saturday, pulled the skids, and re-set them on 6 inches of crushed stone packed with a plate compactor. Should I have gone with concrete piers from the start, or is compacted gravel good enough if I re-level it every spring?
