Just caught my bass trap placement was totally wrong after watching a video from a studio in Nashville

I had them stuffed in corners flat against the wall for 2 years, but then I saw a guy demonstrate the air gap trick and tested it myself - the low end cleared up immediately. Has anyone else found their whole acoustic treatment setup was backwards?

@lily_sullivan82 did you test it with a measurement mic or just by ear?

Oh man, the air gap thing was a game changer for me too. I had mine mounted directly on the wall for years thinking deeper traps = better bass absorption, but the physics works totally opposite for low frequencies. It's wild how much the trap needs that space behind it to actually breathe and do its job.
