I painted my studio ceiling black on a whim and it actually worked
I was cleaning up my 10x12 shed studio in Portland last weekend and got sick of looking at the plain white ceiling. On a total impulse, I grabbed a can of leftover black paint from a fence project and just went for it. I figured it would make the space feel small and dark, but I was wrong. The black ceiling makes the walls feel taller somehow, and all my gear on the shelves just pops against it. My old acoustic panels look way more intentional now. The best part is the light from my two clamp lamps doesn't bounce around as much, so it's easier on my eyes when I'm working late. Has anyone else done something weird with their studio color that turned out great?

On a whim" is a bold move, so did you have any second thoughts while the paint was still wet?

The first time I painted a wall deep green, I did have a moment of worry. But @ericjackson, that's just part of the process for me. I find if you pick a color you truly love, the doubt fades as the room comes together. You learn to trust your initial gut feeling.
