Got tired of my mic picking up every car on the street

My backyard studio faces a busy road. Couldn't get clean takes after 3pm. Tried moving blankets on the walls but that just muffled the high end. Finally hung a heavy moving blanket right behind my chair in a U-shape around the mic stand. It blocked the direct sound path from the window. Cost me $12 at Harbor Freight and now I can record until 7pm easy. Anyone else tried weird positioning tricks instead of full acoustic panels?

Keep using moving blankets and youll end up killing your high end even more than you already have. Those things are designed to absorb broad spectrum sound but they eat up all your air and presence especially if you box yourself in too tight. A U shape behind the chair is fine but make sure you leave the front and sides open or youll sound like youre recording from inside a closet. I tried a similar setup once and ended up with takes so dead they sounded lifeless. Small adjustments in mic placement and angle usually fix road noise better than throwing fabric at everything anyway.
