Found out my neighbor's $200 shed conversion is quieter than my $1,500 build

He used acoustic caulk on every seam and rockwool inside the walls, nothing fancy. Did I just waste all that cash on expensive soundproofing foam that barely works?

idk is the noise really that bad? those foam panels are more for killing echo inside the room not blocking sound from getting through walls.

Nah, I gotta disagree with @mila_jones39 on this one. The noise from upstairs neighbors can really mess with your sleep or focus, and that's a pretty big deal even if foam panels aren't meant for soundproofing. Those panels still help take the edge off so the noise doesn't bounce around as much, which makes a difference when you're trying to relax.
