Finally got my vocal booth quiet enough to record at night
After 6 months of trying different foam and moving blankets, I realized the biggest problem was my cheap window AC unit humming at 60hz. I pulled it out and sealed the gap with acoustic caulk, and now my noise floor dropped from -45dB to -65dB. My neighbor Karen even texted me saying she couldn't hear my guitar anymore lol. Anyone else deal with appliance noise ruining their takes?

Oh man, that AC hum is the WORST... I had a similar thing with my old refrigerator kicking on right in the middle of quiet parts. Drove me absolutely nuts until I realized I could just unplug it for recording sessions. That drop from -45 to -65 is huge though, must feel amazing to finally have clean takes at night. Karen probably appreciates it too, even if she doesn't say it lol. I've been battling a dishwasher rumble that bleeds through my floor, still haven't figured that one out yet...

@betty_shah dishwasher rumble sounds brutal, glad you got that AC cleaned up though.
