Why does nobody talk about how much faster a leaf blower clears a gutter than a shop vac
Spent Saturday clearing the gutters on my ranch house in Boise and tried the shop vac on the first stretch because that's what my dad always did. Took me 25 minutes to do about 12 feet and I was up and down the ladder constantly. Switched to my handheld blower with a 20 foot wand for the rest of the roof line and knocked out the remaining 60 feet in maybe 15 minutes total. The blower throws the wet stuff too, which I figured would just smear, but it moved the packed leaves fine once I got the nozzle close. Big lesson was not blowing toward the downspouts, I clogged one and had to snake it. Anyone got a trick for the corners where leaves just sit and laugh at you?
25 minutes for 12 feet sounds about right, my dad's shop vac method also came with a lot of swearing and one near fall off the ladder. Corners are my nemesis too, I usually just end up grabbing the leaves with my gloved hand like some kind of gutter raccoon. Let me know if you find a better way before I lose a finger.
