Took me 3 weekends to stop my garage door from reversing on its own
Everyone online says adjust the limit screws and you are done. I spent two weekends messing with those screws and the door still bounced back like it hit a ghost. Finally called a guy out from a local shop in Dayton and he found the real problem, a cracked sensor bracket that was shaking just enough to break the beam. He charged me $85 for the visit and fixed it in 20 minutes with a $4 bracket from his truck. Three weekends of guessing versus one phone call, I should have called on day two instead of trusting the forums. Has anyone else had a garage door sensor issue that had nothing to do with the usual alignment fixes?

Ugh, I feel this in my bones. But I gotta say, most garage door sensors do just need a simple alignment, so the forums aren't totally wrong, they just cover the easy fix not the sneaky ones. That cracked bracket is a classic example, it's a mechanical issue that no amount of twisting screws will solve. You got lucky finding a guy who actually looked instead of just tweaked the same knobs.
