TIL that putting a brick in my toilet tank saved me about $15 a month on water
My water bill sat at $68 for two years straight until a plumber buddy in Dayton mentioned the brick trick over coffee, and now I'm down to $53 and wondering what other dumb simple fixes I've been overlooking in my own house.

Wait, your water bill was $68 every single month for two years? That part is what gets me, not the brick. Bills usually bounce around a few bucks here or there, so the fact that it sat at the exact same number for 24 months is the real mystery to me. A brick in the tank just takes up space so less water fills up each flush, which is a real thing, but it would not drop a bill by $15 unless you were flushing a ton. $15 a month is a big chunk of a $68 bill, so something else might have changed around the same time. Did you swap out any other habits or fix a leak around then, because a dripping flapper can waste way more water than a brick ever saves.
