The concrete in my garage measured out to exactly 37 bags. Was I lucky or did I plan it right?

I did a 24 by 24 slab a few years back and calculated 86 bags for a 4 inch pour. Ended up using exactly 86 bags but I was sweating it the whole time because one bad batch or a small mismeasure would have thrown it all off. In my case it was a mix of good math and just plain luck that the ground was level enough and the concrete didn't settle too much. Your 37 bags sounds like you had a solid plan and maybe a bit of fortune on your side too.

And it's funny how that pattern shows up everywhere, not just concrete work. Seems like most things in life that go smoothly are a mix of decent planning and dumb luck that the ground was level in the first place. You can crunch numbers all day, but there's always that one little variable that could have sent the whole thing sideways.
