My neighbor in Dayton told me to stop bagging grass clippings, and I told him he was wrong for 2 years
When I moved into my place on Smithville Road back in 2019, my neighbor Walt watched me haul 14 bags of clippings to the curb every Saturday and finally said I was starving my own lawn. I brushed him off because that is just what you do, right? Then my grass got thin and patchy near the driveway while his stayed thick all summer with zero bags out front. Turns out he had been mulching with the same mower for 20 years and never fed it anything but those clippings, so now I want to hear from folks who switched over, did your thatch get worse in year one or did it sort itself out?
