Why does nobody mention trail runner foot pain on the Colorado Trail?
I was sure all those people raving about zero drop shoes were just trendy, but after 80 miles near Durango my calves locked up so bad I had to switch to my old padded hikers for two days, has anyone else limped through that section or am I just weak?
That stretch between Durango and Silverton got me too, about mile 90 last season. My right calf seized up so bad I was icing it in a creek near Molas Pass, and I've been doing this for years. Zero drop shoes are great on flat ground but those sustained climbs and rocky descents are a whole different animal for your tendons. Swapping back to your padded hikers was smart, no shame in that.
