Funny how the simplest things in life turn into the biggest adventures. Had a similar thing happen when I was fixing my truck last month - spent 2 hours tracking down a loose ground wire that was right under the battery the whole time. Makes you think about how often we overlook the obvious stuff living right in front of us. Maybe that's why so many people feel disconnected these days, we're all looking too far ahead for something simple we're missing right here. Ever notice how the best fix is usually the one you overlooked the longest?

There's a pattern I've noticed with this kind of thing that goes beyond just hiking or fixing things. People have gotten so used to looking for complicated answers that the simple ones don't even register anymore. We scroll through endless advice online, we ask experts, we buy special gear, when the real answer is usually something we already know but refuse to accept because it seems too easy. It's like how everyone wants a life-changing secret when the real secret is just eating right and going to bed on time. The water was probably closer than you thought, just like most solutions in life. We've trained ourselves to believe that if it was easy, it couldn't be right.
