The Yosemite Valley Loop mistake everyone makes

I keep seeing people head out on the Mist Trail to Nevada Fall without checking the park conditions page first. Last week I passed six groups on the John Muir Trail descent who had no idea the Mist Trail was closed for rock repairs past Vernal Fall. They all had to backtrack 3 miles on tired legs. Why do people skip the ranger station or the NPS app before starting?

Did you check NPS alerts before you hit the trailhead?

It's cute you think I even look at my phone before heading out, let alone check NPS alerts. I just show up and hope the trail isn't on fire.
